Tesla will ship free FDA-approved ventilators to hospitals worldwide

Elon Musk went viral yet again just a few weeks ago when he tweeted “The coronavirus panic is dumb” on his personal social media account (see below). But that doesn’t mean the man has stopped caring altogether—at least that’s what his recent actions suggest.

You see, Musk’s latest tweet as of this writing (again, see below) tells us that he’s now taking steps that are definitely toward the right direction in this fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. He says that Tesla now has FDA-approved ventilators on hand and that it will ship said ventilators to hospitals worldwide and free of cost, provided that the recipients are within Tesla’s delivery regions and that the equipment will be used immediately.

However, Musk didn’t clarify how many ventilators his company has at the moment. Still, this bodes well for the institutions that Tesla will potentially be able to help.

There are other big corporations in the automotive industry that have been ramping up their efforts to battle the pandemic. Following its announcement of its new partnership with 3M and GE, Ford has recently declared that it will produce 50,000 ventilators in 100 days. Meanwhile, Glickenhaus has converted full-face snorkel masks into reusable face masks, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is setting up to produce over one million protective face masks, and Mercedes F1 is currently developing a breathing aid for virus-infected patients.

If you want more updates on the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, and if you want to see how all these efforts play out in the coming weeks and months, watch this space. More as we have them.
