Netflix has been currently testing a new feature that allows users to play content randomly on their screen.
Dubbed as Shuffle Play, the new feature has an algorithm that lets subscribers watch a show or a movie that they have been currently seeing, saved on their list, or something similar from the titles they previously watched. It is found upon opening Netflix on smart TV devices, just below the profile icons of the users.
Twitter user Turner Levison posted the appearance of the feature.
Interesting new feature @netflix … but what kind of insane person just says, “yolo, let’s spin the Netflix wheel of fortune” pic.twitter.com/6WDJrmd7pG

As Netflix stated on a report from Tech Crunch, the Shuffle Play is the company’s initiative in ” helping its members quickly and easily find content that’s tailored to their tastes”. It also shared that the latest feature is another variation to the streaming service’s Play A Popular Episode function which previously allowed users to watch any random episode from a series, regardless of which season it belongs.
According to the report from The Verge, Netflix has been running the Shuffle Play feature in various countries for different seasons of time. It will only make the feature broadly available once the demand for it increases.
A similar feature named Play Something has also been spotted by Twitter users Chaby Digital on the smart TV version of the Netflix app. It can be found on the sidebar menu and functions just the same as the Shuffle Play.
Lol Netflix now has a “shuffle” button. This is something I needed that I didn’t even know I need. pic.twitter.com/JEEsF65Bc0
