Vivo X50 Hands-On, First Impressions

Along with the Vivo X50 Pro, the company also introduced the non-pro variant called the Vivo X50. It still has notable specs though like the large 6.56-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate option, a quad-camera setup, and a 33W fast charging support. Continue reading to know more about our initial impressions about the Vivo X50.

Design-wise, the Vivo X50 packs a modern look with a glass back with a reflective mirror gradient design. It’s subtle but still enough to attract attention. The unit we have is in Glaze Black colorway, but it is also available in Frost Blue which we think looks bold.

Evidently, its got a vertically aligned protruding quad-rear camera module with the LED flash. Something you won’t really notice is that it has a tiny third microphone underneath the camera module. Other than that, we get some Vivo branding here at the back.

Situated on the right side of the device are the volume rockers and the power button, while we got nothing on the left.

Located at the top is a noise-canceling microphone and a small text that says “Professional Photography”.

And at the bottom, we get its loudspeaker, USB Type-C port, main microphone, and a dual nano SIM-card tray.

Onto the display side of things, the X50 has a massive 6.56-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2376 x 1080, which has a pixel density of 398ppi. It is also worth mentioning that it has a 90Hz refresh rate and supports HDR10+. Situated at the top left corner is a hole-punch cut-out that houses its front-facing camera. Consuming media on this device is impressive, colors are accurate and vibrant, with deep blacks as you would expect on an AMOLED panel.

When it comes to cameras, its quad-camera setup is composed of a 48MP Sony IMX598 primary shooter, 13MP depth, 8MP Super-wide angle lens, and a 5MP Macro. For selfies, you get a 32MP camera.

Powering the X50 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 with an Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a pretty decent 4,200mAh battery with Vivo FlashCharge 2.0. For software, it runs on the latest Android 10 skinned with Funtouch 10.5, which I must say is really customizable. The X50 that will be available in the Philippines sadly doesn’t have 5G capabilities. On the bright side, the Pro version is here should you need that connectivity.

The Vivo X50 packs a lot of features for a modern-day Android smartphone. It has a large AMOLED screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, fantastic cameras, and of course, a pretty modern and clean design aesthetics. The price is yet to be officially announced but we’ll update this post once it becomes available.
