Among the included toll expressways are SMC Tollways’ Skyway system, NAIA Expressway, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

As shared by SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang, the company already finished its system reconfiguration and added more lanes at its expressways.

“We have completed the reconfiguration of these cashless lanes to help ensure a smooth transition and hopefully, minimal delays for motorists. Implementing this measure is a priority for us because it is in line with government health regulations and it will better protect both our motorists and expressway employees,” shared Ang.

Currently, the SMC tollways offer free installation of RFID stickers on their toll plazas for all types of vehicles.

Electronic Toll Collection lanes are now deployed at SMC tollways with 130 at Skyway, 134 at SLEX, 36 at NAIAX, and 58 at STAR. The TPLEX, however, is currently upgrading from 37 ETC lanes to 52.

Meanwhile, upgrades are being done in the TPLEX. It will soon have 52 from its original 37 ETC lanes.

Toll tellers who will be affected by lane automation will be reassigned to other areas of the tollways. This includes the new Skyway Stage 3 and the SMC Tollways’ RFID department.

As part of the company’s initiatives, more reloading stations have been added along Skyway, NAIAX, SLEX, STAR, and TPLEX.

SMC Tollways targets to be 100% cashless by November 2, 2020.

Previously, SMC has introduced RFID To Go for cashless transactions across all types of vehicles, including PUVs and fleet accounts. The sticker can be installed at the lanes and comes with a minimum PHP 200 load.
