With the Nothing Phone (1) set to officially launch by July 12, a report by InputMag gives us a clearer picture of what to expect with them exclusively confirming that the Nothing Phone (1) will in fact carry Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ chipset.
The Snapdragon 778G+ is in large part identical to the regular 778G chipset with an 8-core CPU with 4 performance and 4 efficiency cores, an Adreno 642L GPU, and an X53 5G modem.
The plus in the 778G+ would suggest that the Nothing Phone (1) would be capable of both wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
So why not go with the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1?
Carl Pei, Nothing’s co-founder, explained to Input that the choice of going with the 778G+ was mainly for the purpose of balancing performance, power consumption, battery life, and cost.
Going with the 778G+ would mean that Nothing can have the Phone (1) priced much lower than most flagship models with leaks suggesting the Phone (1) retailing for just under USD 500, we’ll just have to wait and see for the official announcement.
