Canadiens’ Josh Anderson day-to-day with lower-body injury, out vs. Oilers

Montreal Canadiens forward Josh Anderson is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and won’t play Saturday night against the Edmonton Oilers, the team announced.

Anderson left Tuesday’s 4-3 win against the Dallas Stars in the third period.

Anderson wasn’t putting any weight on his right leg and had to be helped back to the dressing room after he collided with Stars defenceman Thomas Hartley and dropped to the ice midway through the period.

The 29-year-old from Burlington, Ont., has six goals and five assists in 39 games this season.

The Canadiens recalled forward Joshua Roy from the Laval Rocket, their AHL affiliate, on Friday.

Roy, 20, has played 34 games for the Rocket this season, his first as a professional, notching 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Canadiens.

The Canadiens take on the Oilers Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada. Catch all the action on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, with coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. MT.
