Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday.
Haliburton was forced to leave Monday’s game against the Boston Celtics after slipping and falling in the second quarter. He was carried off the floor by his teammates and immediately went to the locker room.
The 23-year-old had a towel over his head and was in visible pain after the play. It was the second time in the game he had slipped on the floor.
Wojnarowski reports that there is some relief amongst the Pacers staff that their star has avoided serious injury.
After making his first career All-Star Game in 2023, Haliburton has taken his game to another level this season. He has been the driving force behind the Pacers’ 20-15 record, entering Monday’s game averaging 24.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and an NBA-best 12.7 assists per game while shooting 49.6 per cent from the field.
In the first returns in the voting for the 2024 All-Star Game, Haliburton led all Eastern Conference guards with over 1.3 million votes.
