The Philadelphia Flyers and rising star Owen Tippett have agreed to an eight-year contract extension, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman was first to report.
Specific terms of the deal were not known but Friedman reports the average annual value will fall between $6 million and $6.5 million.
Tippett was due to become a restricted free agent this summer.
Tippett, who turns 25 next month, is in the midst of a second-consecutive career year. Through 46 games, he has 18 goals and 30 points. Last season Tippett scored 27 goals and 49 points in 77 games.
The Flyers acquired Tippett as the core piece in the trade that sent long-time captain Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers in 2022.
