2020 Mitsubishi Xpander gets updates to its exterior and cabin

It seems like only yesterday that the Philippines was gearing up for the Mitsubishi Xpander’s arrival—now, other markets are already giving the hugely popular seven-seater an update.

In Indonesia, the Japanese car manufacturer has upgraded this hot-selling MPV for 2020 with new exterior components and some changes to the cabin. Outside, you’ll find an altered Dynamic Shield grille with a more prominent Mitsubishi badge on it. The latest Xpander also comes available with new 16-inch alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna up top, and LED headlights.

Inside, select variants get a new instrument cluster and some nice faux wood or silver trim. New seat patterns in beige and black are also available for customers looking for a more unique cabin aesthetic. For in-car entertainment, the vehicle boasts a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a rear sensor for easier parking.

No changes have been made to the Xpander’s powertrain: Under the hood is the same modest but economical 1.5-liter DOHC engine as before. This powerplant, which is capable of 103hp and 141Nm of torque, is still mated to either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission.

No word yet on when refreshed units of the MPV will make their way to the local market. Do you think these updates push the Xpander ahead of competition like the Toyota Rush and the Suzuki Ertiga? Or would you rather wait for the arrival of the Xpander Cross instead? Let us know in the comments.
