With the phenomenal success of its previous Rebel lineup, there’s no stopping Honda from releasing more of these beginner-friendly, cruiser-style motorbikes in the global market.
Tomorrow, March 27, the Rebel 250 S will be among three models to be unveiled in a ‘virtual motorcycle show’ along with the CT125 Hunter Cub and the Grom.
The Rebel 250 was first introduced in 2017. Now, the newly upgraded model comes with a slipper clutch to make changing gears easier and smoother. It’s also fitted with a gear indicator in its retro-styled instrument cluster, and boasts a new LED headlight, taillight, and turn signals. No tachometer still, though.
The Rebel 250 S features a stylish headlight cowl and gets an exclusive Matte Axis Gray Metallic paint job. The standard Rebel 250, on the other hand, has three color options: Matte Armored Silver, Matte Fresco Brown, and Matte Blue Jeans Metallic.
Both the S and standard variants are propelled by a 249cc DOHC liquid-cooled, single-cylinder powerplant that produces 26hp and 22Nm of torque. Ideal for Asian riders, the bike has a seat height 0f 27 inches like its the model line’s 300cc and 500cc siblings. This baby version weights only 170kg, versus the 500cc variant’s 185kg.
Here’s some interesting info. The Rebel 250 dislodged the PCX150 scooter from the top spot of the 2018 Japan sales chart for small motorcycles. That says a lot for an entry-level bare-bones mini cruiser, right?
Reports said the retro-styled Yamaha XSR 155 will soon be here in the Philippines. Will Honda have a change of heart and bring in the 2020 Rebel 250 S here, too?
