These two modern PUVs have just been added to the DOTr's free P2P service fleet

Last week, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) rolled out its free P2P service for healthcare workers to aid in the fight against COVID-19.

The buses, provided by several government agencies and private corporations, will ferry our frontliners in, out, and around the capital. While that sounded like good news already, here’s something to make things even better: that P2P service fleet just got a bit bigger.

A transport cooperative called Great Power Movers TC has just turned over two Star 8 Solar eJeepney units to the DOTr. These are similar to the public transport vehicles that are operating in the metro as part of the government’s PUV modernization program. You can check out the official Facebook post below.

However, there were no details on which specific routes these PUVs will ply—only that they are deployed at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange. Regardless, these two units will surely serve as huge additions to the current fleet going around the metro to transport hospital personnel.

What do you think? You can check out the routes of the DOTr’s free P2P services here. On the other hand, if you want to read more on our stories on the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, click here.
