4 Major motorcycle brands pull out from 2020 Inside Racing Bike Fest

This is sad news for the local motorcycle scene.

About one month more before the staging of the 14th Inside Racing Bike Festival and Trade Show, four of the country’s biggest bike brands decided to withdraw their participation in this two-wheeler festival. Well-placed industry insiders told Moto Sapiens that Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, and KTM have expressed their intention to not to participate in the forthcoming event.

The 14th Inside Racing Bike Fest, considered the country’s biggest and longest-running bike show, will be on March 27 to 29, 2020, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Every year, foreign executives and engineers of premier motorcycle companies appear at this events to present their latest products before a throng of Pinoy riders. As of this writing, we’re trying to reach the organizer of Inside Racing for comment but to no avail.

Except for KTM Philippines, the three brands cited the worsening global anxieties over the COVID-19 outbreak which has prompted the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise its risk assessment on the coronavirus to “very high” across the world.

Aside from the COVID-19 scare, sources said the Ayala-owned KTM Philippines has its hands full helping its Laguna- and Batangas-based employees recover from the recent explosion of Taal Volcano.

Attended by thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts, this annual event is a popular venue for motorcycle launches, new-model displays, and seeing the latest accessories and riding apparel. Aside from these, visitors are treated by the motorcycle companies to awesome entertainment, exciting trivia games, and raffle prizes, making it one of the most successful events in the local motorcycle scene.

But this is not the first time popular brands have missed the show. Two Japanese motorcycle giants, Honda and Kawasaki, had pulled outs from the Inside Racing Bike Fest two years ago for still unknown reasons.

We’ll keep you posted about updates.
